Belgian and Ukrainian observers to monitor January 5 presidential elections
In the light of upcoming elections, Georgia's acting president Nino Burjanadze, on her own initiative, held telephone conversations with Georgia's friendly countries' parliament speakers.
Today a telephone conversation took place between Nino Burjanadze and the speakers of both chambers of Belgium's federal parliament, Armand De Decker and Herman Van Rompuy. Acting president Burjanadze today also had a telephone conversation with Ukraine's parliament speaker Arseniy Yatseniuk.
Burjanadze addressed the parliament speakers of Georgia's friendly countries with a request to send as many observers to Georgia as possible. The conversation also touched upon the ongoing situation in Georgia and the importance of holding democratic and transparent presidential elections.
