The President of Georgia met with the Secretary General of the European Council
The President of Georgia met with the Secretary General of the European Council in Strasbourg today. Mikheil Saakashvili and Thorbjørn Jagland discussed implemented reforms and ongoing processes in Georgia. While talking with the President, the Secretary General positively assessed parliamentary elections held in the country, and called them fair and democratic. He also spoke about the importance of cohabitation in terms of integration in the Euro Atlantic structures. The sides also spoke about the continuation of the progress, which the country has reached on this road in recent years.
The President of Georgia and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe once again expressed desire for the role of the European Council to intensify in Georgia’s political events and the European integration process. One of the main topics of discussion was the importance of involvement of the international community in the Georgian-Russian conflict.
