The President of Georgia laid a cornerstone at the construction of a pesticide factory in the Kulevi area around the Poti free economic zone. Mikheil Saakashvili addressed the attending audience and spoke to them about planned and implemented infrastructural projects. According to him, opening such factories will fully solve the unemployment problem. According to him, one billion in investments has been made in Poti in the last 4 years, and the city is gradually becoming an industrial center. He stated that Poti now has a high pressure natural gas pipeline, which it never had before, as well as a railway, a retraining center where people have a chance to raise qualifications and learn new professions, an airport will be opened next year, and the seaport will be widened. All of these projects needed 3 years according to him, and they are being done to strengthen Poti.

The President later spoke about building the new city Lazika, and noted that hundreds of millions will be invested in its seaport which will lead to development of the city. He stated that the money invested in this project should be distributed around the entire country tripled and quadrupled. According to Mikheil Saakashvili, the ongoing rehabilitation in Anaklia is a symbol for our citizens left across the occupation line.

Mikheil Saakashvili also noted that implementing every new project means beginning a new life, and by implementing Georgia’s long term multiyear plans each citizen of Georgia must benefit more.

The pesticide production factory is being built by an investment of “Socar Georgia” and it will cover over 24 hectares. 1,500 persons will be employed during the construction of the facility which will later provide 300 permanent jobs. 700 million USD will be invested in the project. The production will also be exported to the international market.
