The President of Georgia visited the Tsalikari Village of the Abasha Reigon today and offered them a tour of the Abasha Service Center for farmers and grain storage. Mikheil Saakashvili travelled with them by a bus dedicated to Agrotour and listened to local problems on the way. The Head of State also expressed interest in the agricultural conditions locally, and focused on important issues in this direction.

While touring the Abasha Service Center, Mikheil Saakashvili spoke to locals about the necessity of using technologies and developing agriculture. The President explained the purpose of the center to them and stated that each one of them will receive service there necessary for working on land and increasing the amount of crops.

The Abasha Service Center for farmers is serving all municipalities of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and the population can consult a qualified agronomy expert there while receiving several types of lab service. The newly opened center employs 67 local people.

The Abasha Grain Storage Center complies fully with modern standards. It has a high tech lab and a store where every product of primary consumption is available (pesticides, seeds and etc.) The center employs 45 local residents, including agronomy experts, who assist farmers in harvesting crops and finding distribution markets. At this stage, the storage center stores up to 600 tons of grain. Last year  5 thousand tons of grain were stored locally.
