President Saakashvili gets aquatinted with the Republic’s Square reconstruction projects
President Mikheil Saakashvili and the government officials got acquainted with five Republic's Squire reconstruction projects today, at Marriott Hotel. President Saakashvili said that in early 2007 the Republic's Square should become a modern European standard squire.
President Saakashvili also discussed Old Tbilisi reconstruction issue stressing that that part of Tbilisi should become the center of tourism, since Tbilisi, like many European cities should have places for people to walk. "I'm happy that new buildings are being built. We must promote this process," the President said.
President Saakashvili also commented on the Parade dedicated to the Independence Day of Georgia saying that in a year Georgian army will dramatically increase and become much stronger.
"I am extremely proud when I see our soldiers, conscripts, and especially our reservists," President Saakashvili said, stressing that the Georgian army, though small, has become a European, modernized and disciplined army.
"We are a European, civilized country indeed. Army is one of its constituent parts," the President said.
