Presidential order to announce open competition for the CEC posts
Spokesperson of the President, Gela Charkviani briefed the press on an order issued by President Mikheil Saakashvili on announcing an open competition for the recruitment of the members of the Central Election Commission.
Spokesperson Charkviani said that in order to insure a good organization of the competition a special reception secretariat, chaired by the Head of the Administration, Gigi Ugulava, was set up.
Application will be received until 24 May. If within the set deadline at least two candidates are not presented on one vacancy, the deadline will be expanded until two candidates are presented on one post.
People are free to participate if they meet the following requirements: the applicant must be a citizen of Georgia, over 25 and must not come into contradiction with the law on "Civil Service".
Members and a Chairman of the CEC should not be affiliated with any political party, must have higher education, good command of the Georgian language, enjoy good reputation among the public, and have at least three years of work experience.
