On November 13 the Georgian Orthodox Church marks commemoration of 100 000 Georgian martyrs. Catholicons Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II offered a paraklisis service at the Metechi bridge.

The bridge was full of people. The congregation holding flowers, icons and crosses went to the Metchi bridge. President Saakashvili was also attending the paraklisis service. After the service was over Illia II with the president and congregation threw flowers into the river.
