The President of Georgia met with students of the David the Builder National Defense Academy

The President of Georgia met with freshmen of the David the Builder National Defense Academy. During his address, Mikheil Saakashvili spoke about importance of developing armed forces, military production, and the role of the National Defense Academy. According to Mikheil Saakashvili, today it has become prestigious to serve in the armed forces and the demand is high among prospective students.

“This is the society’s  new vision in terms of the country’s priorities …God forbid we create a system where an average Georgian is born and goes through his life without having any connection with our armed forces. This would be a big mistake and I think we won’t allow it.” – noted Mikheil Saakashvili. According to his assessment, the National Defense Academy is a symbol of the rehabilitation of Georgia and the basis for developing the Georgian Armed Forces. During his address the President also drew attention to the importance of improving the quality of life for military servants and their families.

The President also touched on the necessity of continuing work of the military research technical facility “Delta.” During the meeting, Mikheil Saakashvili also emphasized internal and external threats of canceling various agreements of strategic importance.

Later today, the President toured the new part of the National Defense Academy and attended the study process. The Head of State also familiarized himself with a new program of language training which became functional for soldiers participating in peacekeeping missions and soldiers wounded during various missions. Along with the language courses the program envisions a special rehabilitation course for them. According to the same novelty, they can continue service in the capacity of instructors and share their experience with students of the academy. The President also visited the soldiers in the infirmary and wished them a speedy recovery.
