The President of Georgia granted Sergeant Giorgi Antsukhelidze a title of a national hero
The President of Georgia awarded Sergeant Giorgi Antsukhelidze, who died during the war of August 2008, with the Order of a National Hero. Mikheil Saakashvili gave the award to his spouse Maka Chikviladze. According to the President of Georgia it is a merit of Giorgi and heroes like him that the Georgian statehood survived.
Sergeant Giorgi Antsukhelidze died in captivity during the August 2008 Georgian-Russian war. He has also been awarded with the First Degree Order of Vakhtang Gorgasali.
Giorgi Antsukhelidze was born on August 18, 1984 in the Alvani Village of the Akhmeta Region. He is survived by his wife Maka Chikviladze and children Levan and Ana Antsukhelidze.
