Mikheil Saakashvili opened a new contemporary hospital in Adigeni today within the scope of the hospital development program. He opened this clinic with the Minister of Labor, Health, and Social Affairs – Andria Urushadze while talking about the importance of this hospital and the development of healthcare in the region. The Head of State also drew attention to the necessity for developing the insurance system and stated that in order for it to become available for the socially unprotected it is imperative that they have medical insurance.

“The fact that a new hospital was built made people very happy. The most important thing is that medical care is accessible for everyone here. There are still many people of low means in this region and they should have insurance policies. All of this is being done for the people and we have to make life easier for them. This is a unique hospital and there are no comparable hospitals in  Eastern Europe and the Post Soviet space. We now have to take care of the professionalism and raising doctors qualifications.” – noted Mikheil Saakashvili while talking with the medical personnel.

The President of Georgia also drew attention to the strategic importance of the region and noted that after the completion of the infrastructural projects this place will gain a greater meaning.

“The Turkish customs office will be opened soon. We are starting to build Goderdzi Pass this year and in 2-3 years there will be a road connecting Batumi and Akhaltsikhe. Abastumani will also develop quickly. The building of one more road, which will connect Akhaltsikhe and Sairme through Abastumani is being planned. Akhaltsikhe is connecting the entire region and it will become the center of Georgia” – stated the President of Georgia.

The President of Georgia also spoke with the population gathered near the hospital. Mikheil Saakashvili received a gift from a teacher at the local school. Natela Matcharashvili gave him a “Deda Ena” book in a decorated wooden box.

The clinic built by the insurance company “Imedi L” fully complies with international standards and provides ambulatory, therapeutic, surgery, maternity, and other types of medical care for the local residents. The multi-profile hospital, which is equipped with state-of-the-art technology has 25 beds and employs 85 highly qualified medical personnel.
