Mikheil Saakashvili talked with the residents of Agmashenebli Street
The President of Georgia walked along Agmashenebeli Avenue and talked with the population gathered for the opening ceremony of the historic district. Mikheil Saakashvili expressed interest in their opinions and shared their impressions. The Head of State also toured the electronic trade center located at Marjanishvili Square, which was completely renovated within the scope of the reconstruction.
The President of Georgia also expressed interest in the work on the subway and used it to travel from Marjanishvili station to Rustaveli station with the Tbilisians. According to him, the construction of new subway stations should begin in Tbilisi despite the fact that it will be a large investment.
“What is being done at Agmashenebeli Avenue and in Old Tbilisi must happen in every part of Tbilisi. There should be no more disadvantaged neighborhoods in our city and every one of them should be comfortable for our citizens. Tbilisi should become one of the best cities in the world in terms of beauty and living conditions” – noted the Head of State while talking to the population.
The reconstruction many buildings has been completed, the nearby parks have been well-accommodated, a new lighting system installed, underground pipes and communications replaced as well as walkways and the greenery on the avenue restored. Rehabilitation works have also been completed at Marjanishvili Square, which connects well to the newly-renovated Davit Agmashenebeli Avenue.
