The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili visited ongoing works at Holiday Inn Hotel together with the Minister of Economic Vera Kobalia and Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava. 250 people are employed at the construction site of the hotel; 150 people will be employed there when Holliday Inn opens. The President of Georgia spoke to the personnel of hotel.

"The number of people visiting Georgia during next 6-7 years will be rather high than number of beds at hotels. This is why no matter how many new hotels will open it will still not overrun the number of visitors. The major problem and threat is that it causes price increase. Normally, people in Tbilisi do not have a place to bring their guests in. Prices at hotels are so high that it is not available for an ordinary citizen to bring his guests there. There are people, who put highest prices on the rooms at their hotels and doesn't care whether it will be empty or not and there exists category of people for whom it is important their hotels to be fully occupied in order to have more turnover and accordingly more income. I remember this hotel was fully occupied with the refugees from Abkhazia. Besides the fact that people lived in heaviest conditions here, this place was heart of insanitariness, crime and injustice. In reality return of civilization in this hotel is very important from psychological point of view. This hotel is located in the center of city, a bit far away from tourism center, but still in a densely populated part of Tbilisi. This hotel and Iveria hotel became victims of Abkhazian war. This is why the restoration of these two hotels means a move of country to the next stage. This place is a center of the city and it is very important to bring civilization and feel life here", Mikheil Saakashvili pointed out. 

28 million GEL - Georgian money was invested in construction of the hotel. There will be 225 rooms, conference rooms of international standards, café, and outdoor swimming pool in four-star-hotel. It is important that wine-testing hall will be located at hotel lobby that will support popularization of Georgian wine.
