New British Ambassador Presents Credentials to President of Georgia
Newly-appointed ambassador of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland Denis Keff presented credentials to president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili today. Wife of the ambassador Mrs Keith Keff, deputy ambassador Roy Wilson and Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili attended the ceremony.
Speaking in Georgian, the ambassador passed best regards of the Queen, Her majesty Elizabeth II to president Saakashvili. He also underlined fruitful cooperation of Georgia and the United Kingdom in many areas. Mr. Keff reassured assistance of his government in the context of successful implementation of reforms and peaceful resolution of conflicts. In the ambassador's words, the recent incident near Gori once more revealed importance of peaceful resolution of the cnofilcts in Georgia.
President Saakashvili expressed his enlightenment with the ambassador's knowledge of Georgian language.
"I just had an opportunity to observe that amongst the foreign diplomats in Georgia, your Georgian is the best. Georgia is ready for close cooperation with the United Kingdom," President Saakashvili noted.
