President Saakashvili meets visiting parliament speakers from Scandinavia and Baltic countries

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Parliament Speaker Nino Burjanadze met a visiting delegation consisting of the parliament speakers of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia on 24 September.

The goal of the delegation's visit is to share European countries' experience in the process of Georgia's democratization and familiarize themselves with reforms being implemented in the country.

The Georgian president gave the European speakers information on the issues of fundamental importance to Georgia.

At the meeting Saakashvili familiarized the guests with the reforms under way in Georgia, the frozen conflicts in Abkhazia and South Ossetia and the process of Georgia's integration with Euro-Atlantic structures. For their part, the European speakers shared their vision on how this process should go forward. Each of the guests expressed their full support for Georgia's accession to NATO.
