The President of Georgia visited the Adjara region

The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili visited the Adjara region today and attended the ceremony of laying the foundation of a new church in Sarpi. Mikheil Saakashvili promised a five-year- old boy to finish the construction of this church, before he goes to school.

The church is being built near the border, in Sarpi. Together with the President of Georgia local government and congregation attended the ceremony.

"We are starting to build a church near the gateway of Georgia with full energy... I will control the construction of the church myself. We are already managing organizational and finance issues. I would like to express my gratitude to Archbishop Dimitri, for his initiative to build this church, and to all the people who stood by him, among them - Givi Targamadze, who reminds us every single minute of the necessity to build a church right here. I want to tell the Archbishop, that this church, under his headship and prayers, with the prayers of the Georgian church and our Patriarch, will become the dignity of Georgia" - stated the President of Georgia.

The President of Georgia met the Ministers that were newly appointed by the Adjara Supreme Council. Mikheil Saakashvili expressed his interest in the construction of one of the hotels of the Sheraton net.
