The President of Georgia held a meeting with the working group on the peace plan

The President of Georgia held a meeting with the working group on the development of the peace plan. Mikheil Saakashvili gave specific tasks to the members of government.

"This plan covers almost every single sphere. Several subjective groups - the legal group, will prepare constitutional changes in the legislation. You know that we offered Abkhazs constitutionally guaranteed post of Vice-President in central government and guaranteed representation in the central legislative body. We have also offered the right of veto on the issues related to their legal status and to the issues of a vital importance, guarantees on internal autonomy and international issues as well. I ask the Ministry of Economy to elaborate an outline of free economic zone in Gali and Ochamchire. You know that we are developing a free economic zone in Poti. We need to develop synchronized outline of zone and work on plan so that they feel each other.

We need to engage in talks with our international partners about creating international guarantees for the Abkhaz Autonomy. I welcome that the UN has launched talking about revising the status of the peacekeeping operation . Later we expect that UN will work with us on revision of this status.

We would like to offer Tskhinvali region some concrete issues. This first of all will address the Ministry of Economic Development. I offer you to develop a concrete draft and plan, to issue money for guaranteed purchase of harvest from all territories, including those that are not under our full control. None of the ethnic representative should suffer from the political situation. In the frames of the Presidential program that envisages students' education abroad, I offer to select ten students from Tskhinvali in the nearest future, we will finance these ten students and send them to get their education abroad. We are seriously prepared to move the peace process forward and I also hope that Russia will also be involved in this and the Russian Federation will - instead of artificially exacerbating situation through statements by some top level officials and through importing arms in South Ossetia and Abkhazia - become a constructive part of this process. If Russian central government has a political will, Russia will have great potential to become a constructive participant to turn the above mentioned processes into reality", said Mikheil Saakashvili.
