The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili opened the first constructed phase of Gombori road

The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili visited Gombori road rehabilitation works and opened constructed 10 km phase of the road. As the President said this road has a state importance and the road construction process will continue in future as well. The construction of the above-mentioned road will finish in 2010 and it will give us a chance to come to Tbilisi from Telavi in about 50 minutes.

"Our pre-election promises are fulfilled not by only constructing roads, but next year we are opening the first 10 km phase in order to finish Gombori road for the next summer. Besides, the government invested a large amount of money into vintage this year. I think that Kakheiti will obtain 70-80 million GEL from vintage, though a bit more than this amount of money was received from fruit harvest. If we add the money that tourism gave we will have the sum of 200 million GEL. If we divide this amount of money into the number of population I consider that this will be a serious income. Next year if we have more money divided better I hope we will have a better harvest of wheat compared with this year's, we will have a chance to double this sum of money. We will reach it by investing money into road construction, development of infrastructure, we are in the process of supplying Telavi with running water... We will still have much to do, but we will bring our work to the end", stated the President of Georgia.
