The President of Georgia visited one of the oldest neighborhoods of Mestia

Mikheil Saakashvili visited one of the oldest districts of Mestia, Lanchvali where reconstruction work is in progress.  After the rehabilitation of the towers, the newest of which is built in the 12th century, their original historic appearance will be restored. Houses are also being built and roads paved and the Museum of Ethnography is being reconstructed.

Mikheil Saakashvili talked with the residents of the Lanchvali district and noted that people will have a new source of income after the work is finished.

"The new houses were built, the restoration of towers will be completed soon, and stone roofs will be repaired as well. The water system is also being changed. The opportunity to build a hotel in order to have a new source of income is becoming available for everyone. I think that the investment was made correctly in this region. In the past, because of poor road conditions, groceries were 2-3 times more expensive in comparison to the cities. Because the road is paved prices will drop on everything.  Now the most important thing to do is to start small businesses, hotels and cafes.  We should provide a ready infrastructure in order to give all families the opportunity to be self-reliant "- stated Mikheil Saakashvili.
