The President of Georgia – Mikheil Saakashvili expresses deep sorrow regarding the death of a Georgian Soldier – Corporal Besik Niniashvili in Afghanistan. Mikheil Saakashvili extends his condolences to the family of the deceased soldier and sympathizes with his relatives and comrades in arms.

Corporal Besik Niniashvili had been serving in the Georgian Armed Forces since 2007. He was a member of the 31^st Light Battalion of the 3^rd Infantry Brigade, serving in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan within the scope of the ISAF peacekeeping mission.

Besik Niniashvili was killed while on duty as a result of a mine explosion.
