The President of Georgia and the US Secretary of State made joint statements
The President of Georgia and the US Secretary of State made joint statements for the media today. According to the Head of State, the visit of Hillary Clinton and discussions related to a strategic partnership that were held today are a new step in Georgian-American relations. Hillary Clinton thanked the President of Georgia for the extremely important role Georgia has played in the operations of the North Atlantic Alliance, and Georgia’s pledge in terms of Euro-Atlantic security. Hillary Clinton especially underscored the role of the democratic institutions in the development of the region. Mikheil Saakashvili and Hillary Clinton also mentioned the situation in the occupied territories and the neutral status documents, which will give an opportunity to any citizen living in Abkhazia and South Ossetia to travel and study in the United States. The sides also touched on the country’s security, and noted that it is important to hold free and fair elections for the sake of security and democracy.
Mikheil Saakashvili and Hillary Clinton answered questions by journalists after making joint statements. After meeting with the President of Georgia and making statements for the media, the US Secretary of State familiarized the members of the American delegation with the Public Service Hall. According to her, everybody should grasp the significance of such service centers and the novelty that it offers to people. Hillary Clinton toured the Public Service Hall for the second time with American guests.
