Mikheil Saakashvili opened new regional hospitals in Terjola and Tkibuli

The President of Georgia opened new regional hospitals in Terjola and Tkibuli, along with the Minster of Health, Labor, and Social Affairs, within the scope of the hospital sector development project. He also spoke with the local population and noted that as it was promised, new hospitals will be built around the entire country. The Head of State also stated that Georgia will have the most advanced healthcare system and this remains as one of the top priorities of the government. According to him, the state has invested 1 billion GEL in the hospital development program, which envisions building 150 new hospitals. While talking with the local residents, Mikheil Saakashvili drew attention to the importance of building the new city – Lazika and talked about the current and already implemented infrastructural projects.

“I would like to tell those who are suspicious of our promises: we always keep our word. Some used to say that we would not be able to build 100 hospitals, but now they have now switched to saying that we are not going to be able to build the new city - Lazika. I would like to tell them: 1 billion GEL has been invested in the hospital sector. 150 ultramodern hospitals are being built in Georgia. We are creating the best healthcare system in the Eastern Europe and Post Soviet space.

Whoever has doubt, I want to tell those people that we have already built one Lazika and that is Batumi. If anybody thinks that Batumi is the same city as it was 6 years ago, they are terribly mistaken. 4-5 billion GEL was invested in rebuilding Batumi, which helped in creating jobs because everything is being built by Georgians. Moreover, changing an old city is much harder than building a new one. We are also planning to invest 1 billion GEL in Kutaisi. There is a lot more to do, but this will be enough to revive the image of the city. I think we will start building Lazika this spring. “– stated the President of Georgia and added that the process of attracting investments for building Lazika has already begun.

“My attitude is very optimistic. We need to build new cities and develop the ones that are already built. The more we build the more demand will be created. These hospitals are clear examples of this” – noted Mikheil Saakashvili.

The President travelled to Tkibuli from Terjola and opened the regional hospital of Tkibuli within the scope of the same project. Mikheil Saakashvili toured the new hospital and spoke with the personnel. He familiarized himself with the high tech equipment and the qualification of the personnel.

The new medical facility is in compliance with international standards, equipped with the highest quality medical equipment, and consists of up to 70 highly-qualified medical personnel. Stationary, ambulatory, and pre-hospital service is available at the new hospital.
