Acting president Burjanadze meets OSCE mission head to Georgia

January 5 presidential election was the issue of discussion between the acting president of Georgia Nino Burjanadze and Head of the OSCE mission to Georgia Terhi Hakala. "The presidential election in itself is a big challenge for your country. You have the appropriate experience and an opportunity to hold democratic and transparent elections. The OSCE mission will get involved actively and with full responsibility in the process," said the Head of the Mission, adding that Dieter Boden, head of the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights will arrive in Georgia tomorrow.

At the meeting acting president Burjanadze talked about the pre-election campaign, underscored the importance of inviting many international observers to monitor the elections, and stressed that, with an aim to ensure a transparent and democratic election process, the Georgian government was actively cooperating with international organizations.
