The President of Georgia met with soldiers participating in disaster elimination works in Kakheti and thanked them for their hard work and devotion during this hard period. According to him, each one of them will receive a medal initiated by the President.

“On behalf of the entire country and Kaketians I would like to thank you for the fact that in times of peace and war you are the first ones, our armed forces, and each one of you are the ones who stand by our people. If Georgia is standing on its feet today it is first of all by your merit. In the end, this was no less damage than was caused by the large scale military aggression of 2008. You started moving towards Kakheti in several hours in order to clean roads, and rehabilitate infrastructure. Several thousand homes were vastly damaged, thousands of people left outside and a large part of the vineyards were destroyed, but after several hours from when the disaster occurred, restoration and rehabilitation works began. A main value of Georgia is solidarity among people, backing each other, and nobody knows this better than Kakhetians, and each one of us” – stated the President of Georgia.

Up to 2000 representatives of the Ministry of Defense were involved in the elimination works of the Kakheti disaster as well as the 4^th and 5^th Infantry Brigades, the construction brigade, engineering brigade, personal staff of the National Guard, over 1000 reserve officers, and up to 200 units of special equipment.

For one week, units of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia were actively helping the Kakheti population in eliminating the recent disaster results A field hospital has also been organized in Kakheti with the initiative of the Ministry of Defense. The medical personnel of the Ministry of Defense provided medical care for the victims of the disaster in Kakheti, free of charge.
