Mikheil Saakashvili: “We will probably spend hundreds of millions on disaster recovery works”

The President of Georgia made a special statement. According to Mikheil Saakashvili, the state will spend hundreds of millions of GEL on disaster recovery works in Kakheti.

“The works are underway in every place I visited and this is very important. I very well understand the people who fear being left outside. 30 thousand square meters of roofing material is on its way and every company working in this direction is mobilized. I think that the works will start very intensively in two days, but quality must not be sacrificed at the expense of being in a hurry. Compensation distribution will start next week and we are ready to start food supply distribution right away. We are thinking about how else to help the Telavi population. Our people have had a lot of stress, especially those whose houses were damaged. In the end, we will probably spend hundreds of millions on disaster recovery works because I have never seen poverty on this scale. There have been floods with victims, collapse and thousands of types of disasters, but I have never seen a disaster that touched so many people at once. It is true that we have not had victims and we are truly blessed in this regard but a lot of people lost their property. People should feel that in this country the state is defending its citizens’ interests. This is why no matter how tired we are we should send more and more brigades and power up the entire front. We will spare no means to do everything well” – stated the President of Georgia.
