The President of Georgia is attending the Batumi International Conference

 

Mikheil Saakashvili is taking part in the ninth international conference “Georgia’s European Way – the EU and its European Neighbors”, in Batumi. The Head of State has already addressed the participants of the conference and focused attention on the European choice of Georgia and the country’s European values. He also touched on the reforms implemented in Georgia and achieved successes. According to him, after the Rose Revolution the first thing that the new administration did was to begin the aspiration towards European values. According Mikheil Saakashvili’s statement, European integration is not only a choice for us, but the most important value. The Head of State also noted that that the year of 2013 will have a decisive role for us.

The conference is dedicated to the prospects of EU integration in the EU Eastern Europe neighboring area including democratic reforms, rule of law, global and regional security challenges, economic cooperation with the EU, and ties between peoples. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vlad Filat, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and EU Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule, the President of the EPP Wilfried Martens, high level officials of Georgia and EU member and partner country’s legislative and executive branch, and representatives of the private sector and business circles participated in the conference.
