The President of Georgia met with the Parliamentary delegation of Kyrgyzstan

The President of Georgia hosted a Parliamentary delegation of Kyrgyzstan today. The representatives of five divisions of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan are currently learning about the reforms of Georgia in the spheres of economy, healthcare, education as well as the police. The delegation is especially interested in the fight against corruption, because their aim is to share the Georgian experience. During the conversation with them, the President noted that there is a huge potential for democratic development in Kyrgyzstan and everything can be achieved in such conditions.

“It is always interesting for me to interact with Kyrgyz friends. I recall very warmly your hospitality and the environment I was in during my visit to your country. This stirred up tremendous sympathies in me. We are beside you. What is happening in Kyrgyzstan is a great opportunity for you, for the entire region, and for all of us. We can only assist and help through advice and specific actions. We should not lose contact; moreover, we should deepen it in terms of Parliament, Government, and especially our youth. We also desire to intensify relations in terms of societal groups and businesses. Our nations have a lot in common such as our beautiful nature and we are glad that you are here” – stated Mikheil Saakashvili during the conversation.

The guests once again expressed their interest in the Georgian reforms and asked the President for the help of reformers and experts in order to implement them in Kyrgyzstan.

“Your visit to Bishkek was overly symbolic and important in terms of history. We desired very much to meet with you there, but we were unable to do so. That is why we arrived here. We represent different divisions, however we are all adherents to democracy and liberal values. We desire to implement such reforms in Kyrgyzstan. You were able to do it.

We read the book by a Russian writer and economist - “Why Georgia was able to do it” with pleasure. This is a table book for every one of us. We arrived here with pleasure and we are grateful for the hearty hospitality. We had very interesting meetings at Parliament. We are interested in the details of how you implemented reforms. We visited your cities today and saw historic places – Georgians were creating a civilization thousands of years ago. One fact especially astonished me: the first book was published here in 1629 in the Georgian alphabet. Back then such a thing could only be done by a hero nation that was aspiring towards progress. Georgian people have lived through many historic periods during which they had to defend their own territories. The most important thing is that during those periods they stayed on their land. This is truly an incredible thing.

We would like to see the ideas that you have implemented with our own eyes and then implement them at home. We want to support our young government, create a group of Deputies -“Democratic Alliance” which will support the aspirations of our government and we also want to initiate the laws that are necessary for this. That is why we need the help of your people regarding the documents you passed and we would also be grateful if you will help us in terms of experts. Our government will definitely invite them in order to jointly craft the reforms that we want to implement in our country” – noted Omurbek Abdirakhmanov of “Ata-Maken”

The delegation has already held meetings with the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia and representatives of committees. Kyrgyz journalists are accompanying the delegation of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on their trip to Georgia.

The meeting was held at the Palace of the President of Georgia and from the Georgian side it was attended by Davit Darchiashvili – Head of the Committee on European Integration of the Parliament of Georgia.
