Presidents of Georgia and Kazakhstan discuss economic cooperation
President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, on October 2 paid a two days official visit to Georgia. The reception ceremony took place at the Parliament's yard. After the reception ceremony the two Presidents had a face-to-face talk after which they held a joint news conference and discussed economic cooperation issues with Georgia and Kazakhstan.
"We are interested in Georgia, first of all, from the economic point of view, including in the respect of transportation of oil. You know that the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline will be mainly used for transporting Kazakh oil. We are also interested in the Caucasian route - TRASECA, linking Europe and Asia," the President Nazarbayev said adding that Kazakhstan plans to participate in the privatization process, in the development of tourism in Georgia and is interested in cooperating with Georgia in infrastructure, tourism and energy spheres.
The Georgian and Kazakh Presidents also discussed bilateral cooperation issue. President Saakashvili said that Georgia welcomes Kazakhstan's interest in Georgia, since the reforms carried out in Kazakhstan are exemplary for Georgia.
The foreign and economic ministers of both countries, the Chairman of the Autonomous Region of Adjara and the Head of Mangistau region also signed the bilateral cooperation memorandum.
