The president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili opened the hotel complex in the village of Kisiskhevi, Kakheti region
The president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili has visited Kakheti region today. In the village of Kisiskevi, Telavi district the President of Georgia opened a hotel complex built by German investor Burkhard Shikhman. The complex consists of winery, tasting room, wine enoteca and Georgian restaurant. President Mikheil Saakashvili tasted white and red wine which has been produced in Burkhard Shikhman's winery and noted that openings of small hotels like this should be supported and promoted as such complexes employing people and increasing the number of tourists.
"Russia's attempt to destroy prestige of Georgian wine was unsuccessful - we've overcome the crisis. Genuine Georgian wine competes with French and Spanish wines. ‘I want to thank Vladimir Putin for increasing a quality of our wine', ‘I told him about this at the meeting in St. Petersburg in 2006', - President Saakashvili said.
Burchard Shukhman invested 6 million euro in total. He employed 140 local residents in the hotel complex and 30 in winery. On 160 acre of vineyard a German Investor produces excellent quality exclusive wine. The winery annually produces 100 thousand bottles of wine (among them 70 thousand for export). The investor plans to enlarge production.
The President Mikheil Saakashvili has also commented on the detention of Mr. Nikoloz Pruidze. President said, the authorities should realize how big responsibility and an honor is to serve your own country. According to the President, the government is attentive in all such situations. Any minister will be prosecuted in case of involving in corruption deals.
"None of the European countries had imprisoned so many government officials in the fight of corruption", President Saakashvili said.
