The President of Georgia met EBRD President
The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili met EBRD President Thomas Mirow today. Mikheil Saakashvili stressed his attention on a very important agreement that envisages the relocation of railways from Tbilisi central district to the suburb, bypassing the center of Tbilisi. EBRD will issue 100 million Euros for this project and will invest another 80 million Euros in the construction of a new high voltage transmission line. The President noted that the development of these projects will support the development process of Georgia and will create new jobs.
"I can say that very important, historical package was signed today that envisages the bypass route of Tbilisi railway. Practically a new, modern center will be developed in Tbilisi. The problem of traffic will be finally solved and the capital will develop as never before. I am very proud that this will happen before the end of the second term of my Presidency. The construction of a new 500 kw high-voltage transmission line means that Georgia will never become energy dead-end and it will become possible to start building Abkhazia simultaneously together with the construction of many hydroelectric stations. This means that thousands of people will have jobs, first of all on the construction sites, afterwards in the production process, this will move Georgia to the next level of development. This is a very important progress for our energy sector that is extremely important for Georgia's future", stated the President of Georgia during his meeting with Thomas Mirow.
