President Mikheil Saakashvili met with the Georgian Central Election Commission members today at the State Chancellery to discuss preparations for the upcoming MP by-elections scheduled on October 1 in the five single-mandate districts of Georgia.

President Saakashvili stated that elections must be free and fair and everyone who rigs it must be punished accordingly.

Gia Kavtaradze, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, who shares the President's opinion, said that all the five polling stations are ready for the by-elections.

According to President Saakashvili administrative interference in the election process must be fully excluded. He expressed his hope that the Central Election Commission members and its leadership would do their job well.
