President visits Poti
Today President Mikheil Saakashvili visited Poti, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, to open a Freedom Alley there and together with local residents celebrate the Fazisoba holiday (Fazis is an ancient Greek name for Poti).
President Saakashvili also participated in opening of Poti sea port's new terminal which was constructed with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. At the terminal the President met with the Turkish investors and talked about future relations with Turkey and possibilities of eliminating visa regime with this country. "Such investments have increased in Georgia, which is very important since we want to make Georgia an attractive country for businesses," Saakashvili said. The President also visited a flour mill plant and Patrol Police office there.
At the end of the day the President met Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II at his Poti residence and officially handed him over the keys from Poti's Saint Mary Cathedral. "In the name of people of Poti, as President of Georgia, I officially return what always belonged to the [Georgian] Orthodox Church," Mikheil Saakashvili said.
Same day President Saakashvili laid the foundation for the new building of Poti Theater.
