Irakli Alasania, Chairman of the Tbilisi-based Abkhaz government-in-exile, under the order of President Mikheil Saakashvili was appointed as an assistant to the President for the Abkhazian conflict resolution issues, the President's spokesman Gela Charkviani said on March 20 at a news conference. 
According to Spokesperson Charkviani new appointment was made in an attempt to increase level of coordination over Abkhaz conflict resolution.
