President Saakashvili visits Samtskhe-Javakheti region

Today President Mikheil Saakashvili visited Samtskhe-Javakheti region to open the construction of the 22 kilometers long section of the Akhalkalaki-Aspindza road which will meets all the European standards. 
President Saakashvili said that this section of the road will be finished by the end of September and afterwards, in autumn, building of the new Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi road will start. For this purpose GEL 300 million is planned to be spent. Overall, GEL 400 million will be spent on the building and rehabilitation of the roads in the region. 

"New medical polyclinics and hospitals will be built and the old ones will be fully repaired in Samtskke-Javakheti. Infrastructure will be improved markedly to create all the conditions for normal life," President Saakashvili said. 

After the opening ceremony the President visited the village Gandza and a newly opened school which has been repaired under the auspices of the First Lady Sandra Roelefs. President Saakashvili presented the school with the sport facilities and other materials and said: "Several months ago Sandra was visiting one of the villages which is 30 km walk from here. Qalbatoni Laura went to that village on foot to tell Sandra that a school had been ruined in the village. After several months a school has been built here where every schoolchild wears a uniform, which is equipped with computers and is connected to internet. In September we will replace all the new desks with the new ones". 

The same day President Saakashvili visited one of the families in the district and congratulated the Azeri people living in Georgia on the Gregorian Easter. "I wish happiness to all the people living in Javakheti. They are one of the most workaholic and patriotic Georgian citizens," President Saakashvili said.
