The President of Georgia expressed deep sorrow regarding the death of a Georgian soldier Corporal Rezo Alaverdashvili, during the August war in 2008 and sympathized with his family.
21 year old Corporal Rezo Alaverdashvili, killed during the August War, was considered lost without any known whereabouts, and his remains were discovered through DNA analysis.
Corporal Alaverdashvili had served in the Georgian Armed Forces since 2007. He was part of the IV Infantry Brigade and he is decorated with the medal – “Devoted to Homeland”
The Head of State extends condolences to the family of the deceased, his relatives, and comrades in arms.
By decree of the President of Georgia a sum was allocated from the President’s reserve fund in order to assist the family of Rezo Alaverdashvili.
