Visa Information for Foreign Citizens

List of countries whose citizens do not need a visa to enter Georgia and stay up to 360 days:

  • All countries of the European Union, Overseas territories of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland – Bermuda Islands, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands, Falkland Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands, Gibraltar; Dependent Territories of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland – Jersey, Guernsey and Man Isle; The following territories of the Kingdom of Denmark – Faroe Islands and Greenland; The following territories of the Kingdom of Netherlands – Aruba and Antilles Islands of Netherlands; The following territories of the Republic of France – French Polynesia and New Caledonia.

Foreign citizens who have a permanent residence in Lithuania, Switzerland, Germany, South Korea, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Romania, Estonia and persons who have documents proving permanent residence in one of these countries do not need visas to enter Georgia and stay up to 360 days.

Foreign citizens who have permanent residence in Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and Kuwait do not need visas to enter Georgia and stay up to 360 days.

Among Federal Subjects of the Russian Federation – registered permanent residents of Ingushetia, Chechnya, Karachay-Cherkess, Dagestan, North Ossetia – Alania, Kabardino-Balkar Republic and Republic of Adigea, who are also citizens of the Russian Federation do not need a visa to enter Georgia and stay up to 90 days.

Foreign staff of diplomatic missions and consular posts, as well as similar representations accredited to Georgia need visas for their first entry to the territory of Georgia.

During their accreditation period they stay in the country and cross the border on the basis of accreditation card issued according to the determined rule of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, if other is not provided by international obligation.

The citizens of EU member states can enter Georgia with an ID card.

Visa Fees

(with the exception of the citizens of the Russian Federation)

  • Single-entry ordinary visa up to 90 days – 20 US Dollars
  • Multi-Entry ordinary visa up to 90 days – 30 US Dollars
  • Multi-Entry ordinary visa up to 360 days – 50 US Dollars
  • Single-Entry ordinary visa with transit permission – 5 US Dollars
  • Multi-Entry ordinary visa with transit permission – 30 US Dollars
  • Reissuing a visa for a new passport – 5 US Dollars

The customs fees for issuing visa at border crossing points situated at the Georgian State Border, administered by Patrol Police of Georgia (sub-divisional institution of the Ministry of Internal Affairs) will amount to the following sums:

  • Multi-Entry ordinary visa up to 360 days – 100 GEL
  • Single-Entry ordinary visa up to 90 days – 50 GEL
  • Multi-Entry ordinary visa up to 90 days – 60 GEL
  • Ordinary visa with transit permission – 10 GEL

The basis for the stay of an alien in Georgia is a visa or residence permit (permanent or temporary) if other is not provided by this law and international treaties of Georgia.

Also it should be taken into account that persons who possess ordinary visas, in case of staying on the territory of Georgia longer than the period determined by the visa, should apply to the Ministry of Justice (www.cra.gov.ge) to receive temporary or permanent residence before the expiration of their visas.

Exit of Aliens from Georgiaა

If an alien leaves the territory of Georgia during ten days after expiration of the term of his/her legal stay he/she would not bear administrative responsibility in the form of penalty.

 

If an alien leaves the territory of Georgia between 10 days and 3 months after expiration of the term of his/her legal stay will bear administrative responsibility in the form of penalty of 180 GEL.

If an alien leaves the territory of Georgia more than 3 months after expiration of the term of his/her legal stay will bear administrative responsibility in the form of penalty of 360 GEL.

An alien staying in Georgia during the period up to three months after expiration of the term of his/her legal stay and willing to leave the territory of Georgia voluntarily has the right to exit from the territory of Georgia without impediment. Also, an alien is obliged to pay the certain amount of penalty before or after leaving the country. In case the amount is not paid he/she will not be given a Georgian visa until he covers the abovementioned debt.

An alien staying in Georgia illegally more than three months after expiration of the term of his/her legal stay and willing to exit from the country voluntarily has the right to leave the territory of Georgia without impediment. Also, he/she is obliged to pay the certain amount of penalty before or after leaving the country. Georgian visa and the permit to enter Georgia will not be issued to him/her for one year.
