Apartments were given to military service personnel as presents

The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, and the Minister of Defense Dimitri Shashkin, gave newly built apartments, free of charge, to service personnel of the armed forces in the “Military Town” area of the Isani-Samgori District. The Head of State addressed military service personnel and their families while noting that the state is keeping its promise to give apartments to military service personnel in the timeframe provided.

During his speech the President of Georgia touched on the issue of developing armed forces and spoke about the role of the Georgian Army. According to him, each military service personnel have an extraordinary mission before the country and their sacrifice in terms of defending the country is priceless. As he noted, work of any political figure can be equal to this.

The President stated that, an important progress is noticeable in the country, but there are also shortcomings, which slow down the development of the country.

Mikheil Saakashvili also spoke about the fact that happened in the prison and noted that the penitentiary system needs radical changes. According to his statement, the new Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance will be able to make them.

The President of Georgia gave the first apartment key to the family of the doctor of armed forces who died in the Lopota Gorge special operation, Corporal Vladimer Khvedelidze. The President also gave such keys to Seargeant Kakhaber Mangoshvili, Corporal Besik Burduli, Lieutenant Colonel Zurab Geladze, and Major Beka Ambroladze. Additionally, apartments were given to battalion heads participating in the ISAF mission as well as military servants, who have been serving in the Georgian armed forces over 4 years and do not have personal living space.

600 more military servants will receive apartments in the “Military Town” next March.
