Mikheil Saakashvili familiarized himself with the rehabilitation project of the Shukhuti-Atsana-Mamati-Dzimiti 17.5 kilometer portion of road, and spoke to the persons employed there. The Head of State symbolically took part in the road rehabilitation works, and personally set behind the wheel of a paving vehicle.
The project envisions paving the road, organizing flood channels, and constructing necessary buildings. The road rehabilitation works will be completed by spring 2013. 100 persons are employed at the construction, most of whom are local residents.
The project is being implemented by the municipal development foundation of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, and financed by the Government of Georgia and the World Bank.
The President of Georgia arrived in Guria with the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development.
