The President of Georgia visited Borjomi today and personally learned about the ongoing rehabilitation works on site. Mikheil Saaakshvili met with Georgian and foreign tourists and spoke to them about the tourist potential of Borjomi. The Head of State also listened to problems of the local residents and promised them assistance. Later on, he inspected the rehabilitation works at Borjomi Park.

“There will be even more people employed in Borjomi than during the communist times. Up to 700 persons are employed on the first stage and in the end the number will reach 1200. Beautiful hotels and a bridge are being built which looks good with the local infrastructure. Many stores need to open because after the rehabilitation we will start an advertisement campaign around the entire world. Many tourists will come to Borjomi from Europe, America and Asia. This is why we need stores and cafes at every corner. The prices of apartments will increase and the local population will have a chance to receive larger loans to start small businesses” – stated the President of Georgia.

At this point 5 hotels are being built in Borjomi of which 3 will open in September, and two more by the end of the year. 4 and 5 star hotels will have 100-150 rooms each. Over 500 workers are currently employed in the construction of hotels, and after they are opened 700 various jobs will appear in the lodging business in Borjomi where over 500 local residents will be employed.
