The President of Georgia learned about the shore protection and park rehabilitation works in Kobuleti today. Mikheil Saakashvili spoke with the employed workers at the construction and expressed interest in specific details. The Head of State noted that the shoreline was the most damaged in this region and its restoration has an essential meaning. According to him, if not the works that have begun, we would have no more shoreline in 3 years. Shoreline protection works will end on July 30th and they will cost 3 million 993 thousand GEL.

The Head of State also toured the rehabilitation works in the Kobuleti Park, where reconstruction of 6 objects is going on simultaneously. Mikheil Saakashvili also spoke with the locals including the American teacher.

“It is very good that the locals have become qualified and they are using it. They are working during the season, but rehabilitating this boulevard means that everyone on these streets and hotels will start walking here. Back in the past this couldn’t happen because we were rehabilitating Batumi. Considering our experience, Kobuleti must be rehabilitated better. Our conception about creating more public space concerns the entire country and we are implementing it everywhere. In the best resorts everything is private. We are extending the Batumi Boulevard up to 22 kilometers. When I became President and Levan became the Head of the government of Adjara it was 1.7 kilometers long. People who arrive in Georgia are charged a lot for the hotels and we are working on making it cheaper for them. These fountains, parks, recreation places and now this free movie theater…all of it should be free for people coming here including 99% of beaches movie theaters and amusement parks. This is our brand – everything for the people. I think this is the brand of the Rose Revolution; everything for more public space. People should benefit maximally from this” – stated the President of Georgia.

The project envisions rehabilitating the fountain, the painter’s house, amphitheater, tennis courts and a lake. Walkways, amusement parks and entertainment centers will be created. Additionally, dams will be built stretching on a one kilometer portion from Hotel “Georgian Palace” to “Kolkheti.” 40 % of the works have already been completed. 1.35 million GEL has been allocated from the budget for the rehabilitation works which will approximately end on July 28.
