Mikheil Saakashvili visited a new center of tech service in the Meria Village of the Ozurgeti Region. The center consists of a farmers’ house, pesticide distribution center, and it offers all the services the farmers need for working on their land. The center has 21 tractors, 32 units of agricultural equipment needed for various agricultural works, as well as other technology. Mikheil Saakashvili personally learned about the work at the center and spoke with its employees. The Head of State focused attention on the necessity of having such centers and noted that farmers will share new technologies here, which is a prerequisite for development of agriculture.
“Because of having such centers, agricultural output will not only double by 2015, but it will be possible to achieve greater results. Everything starts from such a center – this is exactly what industrial agriculture means. The most important thing is that the equipment is being fully used. This is what will leave the old Soviet style agriculture in the past” – noted Mikheil Saakashvili.
The new center offers farmers a new package of services. They can sign documents on site to lease the needed equipment for a reasonable price or buy necessary pesticides. If needed, they can even consult agricultural specialists at the service center. The service center is also organizing agricultural tours, educating farmers about new technologies, and giving opportunities to broaden their practical experience.
