The President of Georgia addressed the United Nations Civilizations Alliance Forum

The President of Georgia is participating in the first international forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations as a result of an invitation by the Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which is being held in Istanbul during May 31-June 1. Mikheil Saakashvili has already addressed the participants of the forum.

The forum will unite the governments, intergovernmental organizations, business circles, and persons who aspire to creating and sustaining an intercultural conflict free universe.

During the forum, the partners will discuss achieved results of the alliance as well as plenty of other issues such as long term resource necessity, 2012-2013 specific demands, and UNAOC ongoing action priorities, including new projects related to the results of previous forums.

The United Nationals Alliance of Civilizations represents an initiative by the Prime Minister of Spain José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, in 2005 during the 59th assembly of the United Nations, which was implemented with the help of the Prime Minister of Turkey, Erdogan.

This initiative aims at activating international action against extremism through an intercultural and interreligious dialogue.

65 world leaders will attend the forum.
