The President of Georgia attended the parade held in the name of the police day in Gori. The Commander in Chief of the country received the parade and addressed the gathered audience. According to Mikheil Saakashvili, Georgia is one of the first countries where people trust the police and our country is ahead of many developed states in this regard.

The subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and 5000 policemen participated in the parade.

This is the third parade held in the name of Police Day. In the past years the parades were held in Tbilisi and Batumi.

The President of Georgia toured the ongoing rehabilitation works on Tsereteli Street with the Shida Kartli Governor Giorgi Tatishvili. Mikheil Saakashvili also met with the local population and once again focused attention on the importance of this project, for the reason that it will make Gori more attractive and assist the growth of its tourist potential and development of small businesses.

“This is the historic center of Gori, which will become the best place for tourists. Small hotels, cafes, and restaurants will be opened here. This will provide jobs in general, and for specific people too. Moreover, the motion is speeding up with the autobahn present nearby and Gori will revive instantly” –stated the President of Georgia.

A lot of people of low means have lived here. I know how much poverty these people endure and we have programs for this. We don’t need them for bragging; we want to ease people’s lives.

This year the infrastructure will be rehabilitated and communication systems replaced. Facades of up to 100 houses will be refurbished and a stone road built in Gori.
