The President of Georgia toured the Poti Central Clinical Hospital, which was built within the scope of the hospital sector development program by the insurance company “Aldagi BCI.” Mikheil Saakashvili spoke with the personnel and expressed interest in the hospital conditions. He also visited the new patients and brought them presents.

The President also addressed the local residents and familiarized them with the planned projects. According to him, a huge rehabilitation will begin locally next year. The Head of State also touched on the issue of employing the local people and noted that no person shall stay jobless in the city.

“It is important for us that our railways, seaports, government institutions, and the entire private sector work on employing people. We relocated the refugees here, to the new neighborhood; some of them are here right now. You were in Tskaltubo in the past and you had a source of income. After relocating from there, I know that a very small part of you found jobs. The only way out of this condition is to create more jobs and help every one of you become employed. Only a house and a door are not enough, but in Tserovani that’s what we did, we relocated refugees there and gave every person a job. We will do the same thing in Poti, definitely. My goal is simple – we should turn Poti into a 100% employed city and this place has every prospect for this. This year we are beginning to build two huge factories in Poti, and next year we are going to allocate several hundred million GEL within the scope of the five year program. Poti lags Batumi and Kutaisi in terms of infrastructure. However this city has the most prospects in terms of location, labor resources, and industrial potential. This is why we are doing everything in order to explore everything here. I want Poti to be a city of big factories and a developer of needed opportunities” – stated the President.

Mikheil Saakshvili also spoke about the construction and development of Lazika. According to him, the new city will be built as a continuation of Poti, which will help the development of Poti and employing the local population.

“When we are talking about the development of Lazika, which will be the continuation of Poti, it has to be noted that the more money that is invested in the development of infrastructure and creating new facilities, the more income people will receive. First of all, Potians will benefit from this because Poti is the closest place to this construction. We have to revive our country with our own hands together. We have to create everything with our own hands so that our children study in better schools; we should build the best hotels with our own hands and we are doing so. Today, the Georgian state is taking care of each citizen who is still in poverty, but it is evenly distributing its strengths while insuring each one of you. This is the difference between the old time and the current time. Poti has a lot more potential and we should use it” – noted the President and thanked the locals for their support and backing.

While meeting with the population, Mikheil Saakashvili was thanked by the members of the families of the sailors, who were in captivity for 14 months and were freed several months ago as a result of the efforts of the government.

The insurance company “Aldagi BCI” invested 5 million GEL in constructing the new hospital. The new hospital has 75 beds, is equipped with ultramodern technology, and employs 105 qualified specialists. The patients can receive such medical care as surgery, trauma, oncology, ophthalmology, ambulatory, tomography, x-ray, ultrasonography as well as a laboratory at the new clinic.
