The President of Georgia met with the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain

The President of Georgia hosted the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Congress of Deputies of the Kingdom of Spain Josep Antoni Duran i Lleida, at the Presidential Palace today. Mikheil Saakashvili familiarized the guest with the reforms and changes that are going on successfully in the country. The representative of the Spanish Congress of Deputies positively assessed the political, economic, and social reforms and noted that Georgia is the regional leader in this sense. Josep Antoni Duran i Lleida expressed full support of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia on behalf of the Spanish Congress of Deputies and noted that he welcomes membership of Georgia into NATO and the EU. The sides discussed aspects of deepening relations and economic ties between the two countries and set future prospects. Josep Antoni Duran i Lleida expressed hope that the parliamentary relations between Spain and Georgia will become even more intensive. The prospect of Spanish investments was one of the topics of discussion during the meeting.

The representative of the Spanish Congress of Deputies also expressed interest in the conditions of the occupied territories, drew attention to the necessity of de-occupying the region and stated that Russia must honor the 6 point ceasefire agreement commitments.

The Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Parliament of Georgia Akaki Minashvili, and the Ambassador of Georgia in Spain Zurab Pololikashvili, also attended the meeting.
