The President of Georgia attended the forum called “European Development Days” while visiting Poland. Mikheil Saakashvili addressed the audience at the forum. He talked about the period after the Rose Revolution and the implemented reforms in the country. The Head of State recalled the Pre-Rose Revolution time in Georgia and noted that it was a corrupt country with high crime rates, and a devastated economy. The President of Georgia shared the experience that Georgia has gained after 2003 and as a result of which Georgia became exemplary, with other leaders. He drew attention to the democratic values and the issues of human rights. One of the main topics of the speech was the revolutionary occurrences that have developed around the world recently.
The European Development Days are being organized on December 15th -16th in Warsaw by the European Commission and Polish Representation. The participants of the forum are discussing the issues of democracy and human rights. Additionally, they have a chance to familiarize themselves with the new cooperation approaches of the European Commission.
The President of Georgia held meetings with several leaders within the scope of the forum. Mikheil Saakashvili met with the President of Poland – Bronislav Komorowski, the President of Niger, the Prime Minister of Tunisia, and the former leader of Kyrgyzstan – Roza Otunbaeva. During the meeting the leaders focused attention on the issues of European expansion.
The world leaders and high level politicians are participating in the international forum.
