The President of Georgia opened the construction of “New Tbilisi” today and toured the building of one of the largest shopping centers in Europe, which is being built with investments from the “Rakeen” company.

Mikheil Saakashvili addressed the audience gathered at the opening ceremony of the new shopping center and focused attention on the results that Georgia has achieved in the last 8 years. According to the President, like Dubai and Singapore, our country will soon become the trade and economic center of the region. As the President noted, the only way that leads to a better future of employment, improving living conditions and more income for each family is through investments, a high credit rating, stability, reforms, a corruption and criminal free environment, and all that we have achieved since the Rose Revolution that we are proud of.

Mikheil Saakashvili called the project of the new district the most ambitious to date. According to him, expanding Tbilisi is not the main goal of the government.

“This is being done because we want to reach the European gap – 30 square meters for each resident. Tbilisi currently has15 square meters for each resident. Each Georgian family should expand, so that they have an opportunity to buy a new apartment and move to a new building. We must raise our children in a new environment” – noted the Head of State.

The new district named “New Tbilisi” will be built in Digomi, in so called “grove territories” and it will have all necessary infrastructures, roads, subway and etc. There will be government buildings, embassies, commercial and office spaces, housing and recreational zones. Many projects that can make the territory more attractive for investors, will be implemented in the new district.
