The President of Georgia and the Vice Mayor of Tbilisi – Davit Ninidze inspected the rehabilitation work in progress on Agmashenebeli Avenue today. Mikheil Saakashvili spoke with the construction workers and the local population. He recalled the first stage of developing the capital, while rebuilding Bamba Row as well as Chardin and Gudiashvili streets. According to Mikheil Saakashvili, Agmashenebeli Avenue will be the next step, where entertainment, tourist and trade centers will be located as a result of the reconstruction. The Head of State noted that Agmashenebeli Avenue will connect to Chardin Street through Zaarbriuken (former Vorontsov) Square and Rike, creating a huge attractive area for tourists.
According to the President of Georgia, the rehabilitation work is going on 24 hours per day and they will finish as planned, on November 23. As he noted, this place has never been so beautiful and work will continue because there should be no neglected places in the capital.
“This has become the best neighborhood of Tbilisi and one of the best neighborhoods in Europe. There should be no disadvantaged neighborhoods left in Tbilisi – this is a principal issue for us. Every place where people live should have comfortable living conditions. Tbilisi has seen more construction in the last 5 years than during any previous time period in history. Even more will be built in the next two years. We live in a very interesting epoch” – noted Mikheil Saakashvili.
