Mikheil Saakashvili: “Such Georgians are born once in a century…this is a tremendous loss”

10/21/2011

The President of Georgia personally extended his condolences to the family of Ramaz Chkikvadze and once again expressed his deep sorrow regarding the death of a genius of the Georgian stage. According to Mikheil Saakashvili, the stage faces created by Ramaz Chkikvadze will be remembered not only by the Georgian society, but the entire world as well.

“Ramaz Chkikvadze was truly a strong and talented actor. We can recall Khorava, Vasadze, and Zakariadze from his league on the Georgian stage, but they were not the actors of my time. In the memories of people of my age and younger, Mr. Ramaz was a true genius and these memories will never leave us. Ramaz Chkikvadze was a very modest person. We talked to him 2-3 years ago, offering material support, but he answered, help others who are of lower means than me, because compared to them I don’t need any help. It is very hard when such a life ends, but I have been thinking to myself in the recent days that Ramaz Chkikvadze must have been very happy, because all his life he had unconditional love for the people. I would also like to note that we were happy; the people who had seen Mr. Ramaz on the stage and in everyday relationships; people, who remember his bright eyes, incredible love of life, optimism, and humor. Such Georgians are born once in a century…of course this is a tremendous loss” – added the President.
