The President of France decorated Mikheil Saakashvili with the National Order of “Legion D’honneur” during his visit to Tbilisi. The order, created by Napoleon Bonaparte, is the highest distinction the French Republic awards to foreign citizens who have demonstrated significant merit in civil or military spheres of France.

“I would never have imagined receiving one of the most honorable decorations in the world. It is a great honor for me to be the recipient of the highest decoration of France –the National Order of “Legion D’honneur” –noted Mikheil Saakashvili.
