The President of Georgia congratulated sailors on the day of their profession in Batumi. Mikheil Saakashvili spoke about the importance of this field in Georgia and noted that new standards were established in Georgian maritime navigation after defeating corruption and it will support the development of this sphere. As he said it is a profession that is connected to risk, challenges and bravery. As the President stated much is being done today in order to develop maritime sphere in Georgia and to make sure that no one will have any doubts in the professionalism and qualification of Georgian sailors. Mikheil Saakashvili awarded seven veteran sailors for their shares in the development of the field with Orders of Dignity. Veteran sailors, captains and lecturers of the Navigation University were awarded. 18 thousand Georgian sailors celebrated the day of their profession today.
